Browser support
The full version of the web pages should be accessible to visitors using recent versions
of the most popular browsers, with JavaScript enabled. These versions will account for perhaps
97% or more of Internet users.
Users of other browsers should see a simpler version of the web pages, containing either framed text
or text only. These versions can also be selected by the user if there is a problem with the full version
for any reason.
The notes below give details of known problems which the popular browsers have in displaying the full version.
Please note that several browsers, including Internet Explorer, have problems displaying the horizontal
lines in very wide chart pedigrees. The problems can be mitigated by adjusting the layout to display the chart
only and by maximising the size of the browser window, or else by switching the chart format to "Time across".
Microsoft Internet Explorer
The full version can be displayed by versions 5 and higher, for Windows.

The Macintosh version of Internet Explorer cannot display the full version.
Firefox
The full version can be displayed.
-
Under Firefox it is not possible to update the URL in the address bar as the visitor
navigates through the pages, so that bookmarking (or saving "favourites") cannot be used.
For the same reason, only the first configuration will be stored in the browser's history, and this will
be shown if the visitor clicks the browser's "Refresh" button.
-
A browser bug prevents some very long horizontal lines from being displayed correctly.
Netscape
The full version can be displayed by versions 6 and higher.
