Troubleshooting
Why is the program giving a "failed to write" error?
-
This is probably because the program is trying to overwrite
a file that has been set as "read-only".
If any files in the destination folder have read-only settings,
these must be removed before saving the web pages.
(Under Windows, right-click on the file icon,
click the "Properties" item in the pop-up menu,
and untick the "Read-only" box.)
Why is the program failing to copy images, or other files linked from the GEDCOM file?
-
For reasons of privacy, the program doesn't copy files linked from the GEDCOM
unless you specifically select this option when you are prompted during the writing process.
To include these files, select "Copy all linked files" or - if you don't want to include
the GEDCOM file itself - "Copy all but GEDCOM files".
-
The program will be unable to copy a linked file if it is not
found on the hard disc at the location indicated in the GEDCOM.
This could be because the linked files have been moved or deleted, or -
if the GEDCOM file came from somewhere else - were never present on your hard disc.
-
Another possibility is that the GEDCOM file has been moved since it
was created. If the locations given in the GEDCOM file were expressed
relative to that file's location, this would mean they were no longer
valid. A similar problem could arise if the GEDCOM file was created from
a data file in a different format, and saved to a different folder
from the original file.
